Oxford, Miss., Feb. 2, 2015 – Sheila Dossett (BAEd 75) has been appointed interim executive director of Alumni Affairs at the University of Mississippi effective March 2. Executive Director Tim Walsh (BPA 83, MEd 91), who has held the post since 2008, retires March 1. He has accepted a position as assistant vice president for alumni affairs at the University of Florida.
Dossett is senior associate director of Alumni Affairs and director of alumni activities for the Schools of Applied Sciences and Education. A member of the Alumni Affairs staff since 2001, she started with the university as an advancement associate for the new School of Applied Sciences.
Dossett also serves as advisor for the Student Alumni Council, a leadership organization sponsored by the Ole Miss Alumni Association open to all students at the University of Mississippi.
“It was my pleasure to learn recently that Sheila Dossett was appointed the interim executive director,” said Alumni Association President Trentice Imbler (BS 78). “This comes as no surprise. I know that she has earned the respect of her peers, and I look forward to working with her in this position. Sheila is an Ole Miss Rebel.”
Imbler added that Dossett brings 14 years of experience to the table to continue the direction of the Association.
“While I’m sad to see him go, Tim is leaving the Association in good shape,” Dossett said. “I’m confident our experienced staff is well prepared to take care of the needs of our alumni during this time of transition.”
Dossett said she will work to continue increasing Alumni Association membership as well as active participation of alumni, friends and students in all of the association’s activities.
“The 2015 Rebel Road Trip is coming up along with a summer full of club meetings and travel opportunities,” Dossett said. “We’re looking forward to large turnouts and the chance to visit with our alumni across the country.”
