The Ole Miss Student Alumni Council (SAC) was awarded Outstanding Organization and Outstanding Student Advancement Program at the 2016 Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) ASAP District 3 conference in Louisville, Ky., in February for it’s production of Student Alumni Council Weekend which included Bridging the Gap, tailgating and a Diabetes Walk.
Part of Student Alumni Council Weekend, Bridging the Gap is an alumni-student forum sponsored by the Ole Miss Alumni Association and the SAC. Students are treated to insight and career advice from a diverse panel of successful professionals. Question and answer opportunities are provided, followed by an hour-long reception that gives students quality one-on-one networking opportunities.
“This is the second year we received the Outstanding Organization Award, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Sheila Dossett (BAEd 75), SAC advisor and senior associate director for the Alumni Association. “The Student Alumni Council has now been recognized with regional awards eight times, which is a testament to the hard work our students put forth every year.”
