It was a red and blue weekend as NYC Rebels gathered in the Big Apple and Washington, D.C., to share their love for Ole Miss.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout for the events held in New York and D.C.,” said Scott Thompson (BA 97, MA 08), OMAA associate director for engagement. “Our NYC and D.C. Rebels are proud of their alma mater and look forward to these events each year.”
The weekend started early with the Ole Miss Club of New York’s summer social held at Downtown Social on Thursday, June 4. On the same day, D.C. Rebels packed the Homer Building at the D.C. Ole Miss Club reception, sponsored by BGR Group, to hear UM Chancellor Glenn Boyce (BAEd 81, EdD 96) and other university guests.
The weekend’s festivities wrapped up on Saturday with the Ole Miss Club of New York’s Freshman Sendoff and the Mississippi Society of New York City’s Mississippi in the Park held at Hudson River Park, while Rebels in the nation’s capital celebrated the Mississippi Society of D.C.’s annual Mississippi on the Mall at Henry Bacon Ball Field.

“Our alumni are passionate about all things Ole Miss, and our NYC and D.C. Rebels are no exception,” said OMAA CEO Kirk Purdom (BA 93). “They can’t wait for us to come back next year.”
