On June 15 and June 17, the OMAA hosted pregame parties at CenturyLink Center, adjacent to T.D. Ameritrade Park, before the Rebels took on Virginia and TCU in its first two games of the CWS.
“Rebel Nation arrived in full force,” said Port Kaigler (BA 10), OMAA senior club coordinator. “We had a crowd of 550 people (at the first party). Chancellor Dan Jones Jones (MD 75) and Athletics Director Ross Bjork each attended the event.”
Also dropping in on the Alumni Association parties: The red, blue and yellow Ole Miss Solo Cups, who are best known for pratfalling their way through midgame races at Swayze Field games.
“The Solo Cups were the big hit of the event, posing for numerous photographs,” Kaigler said.
As the Rebel run continued, the OMAA hosted more parties at Blatt Beer and Table near the stadium.
Alumni Association staff also handed out Ole Miss beads, “Hotty Toddy” and “Ole Miss” stickers and “Hotty Toddy” fans provided by Mississippi Federal Credit Union.
The Alumni Association thanks co-sponsors of the event, whose generous donations helped offset the parties’ costs for alumni and fans: OMAA Corporate Members Liberty Mutual, Mercer, Regions Bank and Mississippi Federal Credit Union; the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation; and a donation from OMAA Past President David McCormick (BBA 77, JD 80) and wife Susan McCormick (MM 80).
