Featuring, Buenos Aires, Mendoza & Iguazu Falls
June 28- July 7, 2019
It has long been known how intricately astronomy was integrated into the lives of ancient cultures. From the Pyramids of Egypt, to the Incan citadel-fortress at Machu Picchu, to the Aztec Temples of the Moon & the Sun in Teotihuacan, Mexico, archaeo-astronomy has become an accepted discipline verified by structures on the ground.
No astrological event affected ancient peoples more than a total eclipse of the sun, causing them to wonder, albeit momentarily, if their lives would continue. Ancient Skies: Total Eclipse of Argentina takes you into northern Argentina, specifically, San Juan province north of Mendoza, to witness this event on a firsthand basis at a private Estancia.
Starting with two nights in Buenos Aires, the most European city in South America, the program continues to the famous wine-growing district of Mendoza, where you will appreciate famous wines and dine at Francis Mallman’s famous 1884 Restaurant. The wrap-up of this adventure is Iguazu Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world.
