The Ole Miss Alumni Association recently introduced a new series of social receptions featuring Chancellor Glenn Boyce (BAEd 81, EdD 96). In the series titled, Ole Miss Now, Boyce is visiting cities around the country throughout the spring and summer to speak with local alumni and friends as well as prospective students and their parents with updates along with his vision and goals for the university.
Receptions, which kicked off this week in West Point on March 9, are open to all alumni and friends of the university, current students and their parents, and prospective students and their parents. The majority of the events will be early evening socials, though luncheons are planned for some locations.
“This is a great opportunity for our alumni and friends to meet our chancellor in a social setting and to learn more about his goals with recruiting and for the university as a whole,” said Alumni Association Executive Director Kirk Purdom (BA 93). “There is a lot of positive energy about the future for Ole Miss, and I’m happy that the Alumni Association is able to help bring the chancellor to the hometowns of so many Ole Miss Rebels.”
In April, receptions will be held in Atlanta on the 7th and St. Louis on the 8th with New Orleans finishing out the month on the 28th.
May destinations include Birmingham on the 18th, Orlando on the 26th and Destin on the 27th. The date for the Jackson reception has not yet been confirmed, but is currently planned for May as well.
Moving into summer, the reception series will stop in Washington, D.C., on June 11 and New York City on June 15. Other receptions that month include McComb on June 23, Natchez on June 24 and Vicksburg on June 25.
Events will be held in Greenwood and Memphis July 8-9. The reception series is expected to conclude in Denver in conjunction with the annual SEC Picnic at the end of August.
In addition to representatives and information from other university departments, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available at the evening receptions.
