In spring 2016, the Ole Miss Alumni Association launched an ambitious campaign to reach 30,000 active members by July 15, 2017, the 165th anniversary of our Alumni Association’s founding.
In the first eight months of the campaign, the OMAA added more than 1,000 members—a remarkable start to the effort to make the Alumni Association rank among the nation’s most elite. Currently, 21 percent of all Ole Miss graduates—more than 27,000 Ole Miss alumni—are active members.
“Over the summer and fall, these new members have helped us strengthen the Association’s presence both on and off campus,” said Kirk Purdom (BA 93), OMAA executive director.
“We have added a student membership program and a new coordinator of student outreach, to better connect our alumni to students and help them succeed. We have launched a new virtual networking platform, to allow students and alumni to connect with each other from anywhere.
“The new Ole Miss Alumni App, launched in fall 2016 and available on the App Store and Google Play, helps the OMAA communicate with alumni and offers members an all-new nationwide retail discount program that follows them wherever they are.
“Still, we have a long way to go to reach our goal, and we cannot become the Alumni Association your alma mater truly deserves without your help,” Purdom said.
Alumni Association dues help produce the Ole Miss Alumni Review magazine, coordinate alumni club meetings around the nation, fund multiple scholarship endowments, support academic and athletics programs and much more. Active membership allows a small contribution to go a long way and enables alumni and friends to contribute to practically every part of the university.
The Association provides members with exclusive benefits including scholarship eligibility for children and grandchildren, access to Member Zone on home football game days, discounts at the Ole Miss Bookstore and other retail partners.
