Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to wait until my tag expires before I pre-commit to the Ole Miss license plate?
NO, you do not need to wait until your tag expires. The pre-commitment process is a way of showing the State of Alabama that there are enough supporters of the Ole Miss license plate for it to be manufactured. It is completely separate from the tag renewal process. At least 1,000 pre-sale commitments must be reached by April 30, 2015 before the license plate is printed and available for issuance.
What happens if 1,000 pre-commitments are not reached by April 30, 2015?
If 1,000 pre-commitments are not reached, there will not be an option for an Ole Miss license plate in Alabama.
Is the fee refundable?
The fee is refundable if we do NOT reach 1,000 pre-commitments. Otherwise, it goes to cover the cost of your plate. The pre-commit tag cost is $52. If we do not make it to 1,000, then $3.25 in fees will be retained and $48.75 will be refunded to you.
What information is needed to pre-commit?
You will need your Alabama license plate number or the year, make, model and VIN of your vehicle.
Are you allowed to sign up for more than one license plate per application?
Yes, you may sign up for as many as 10 plates per application.
When will the Ole Miss license plate be in production?
The deadline for us to get 1,000 pre-commits is April 30, 2015. If we reach that number before the deadline, the plates will go into production earlier.
