Dear Alumni,
I hope you will enjoy this newsletter that was created to share stories highlighting alumni, students, faculty and staff at the University of Mississippi.
As I enter my second year with the Ole Miss Alumni Association, I am still excited about the success you made possible last year with the highest-attended Black Alumni Reunion to date. BAR22 was a great time for alumni to gather, network and enjoy a variety of activities with friends, fellow classmates and sorority and fraternity members.
Our goal is to keep this momentum going with Key City Mixers, Homecoming tailgates, retreats and more. After selecting a new board, we are ready to put in work to serve our Black alumni community with useful tools and resources.
Speaking of the work going on in our office, I also want to acknowledge our Ole Miss Alumni Association CEO Kirk Purdom (BA 93). Kirk joined the Alumni Association in 2016 as executive director and has continued to grow and excel in his role.
I’m excited to introduce Ole Miss Alumni Association President Bill Reed (BA 72, JD 77). He is senior counsel in the law firm of Baker Donelson in Jackson. He began his one-year term as president in October. If you are an active OMAA member, you can read Bill’s letter in each edition of the Ole Miss Alumni Review. If you aren’t currently active, I encourage you to join at olemissalumni.com/join. Additionally, if you join now using this link, we’ll send you a free pair of official Alumni Association socks crafted by alumni-owned company DeadSoxy, while supplies last! The giveaway is limited to the first 300 eligible members.
Thank you for being part of what makes Ole Miss special, and I look forward to continuing to serve you.
Sincerely,
Junae Johnson
Assistant Director
Ole Miss Alumni Association
