The Inn At Ole Miss Tower Nears Completion

While scaffolding is being removed from the exterior of the new tower at The Inn at Ole Miss, carpeting, tile and fixtures are quickly transforming the interior rooms of the hotel.

"We currently are reviewing plans to landscape the garden area between the tower and the pool," said Campaign Coordinator Tim Walsh. "We expect to have opportunities for our alumni and friends to plant trees in this area in honor or memory of someone."

A dedication ceremony is planned for Friday, August 29. All donors to the expansion will be invited. Though the expanded hotel is getting closer to opening for business, much remains to be done. Completion of the tower and ballroom were part of phase I of a three-phase project.

Current office space in the hotel will be converted to a business center. The center will provide workstations with high speed internet access and the ability to print documents for hotel guests. High speed wireless access also is available to guests and is accessible from the entire hotel.

Phase II includes converting the existing hotel lobby and porte cochere into a fitness center. The facility will feature cardio equipment and the latest strength equipment. Another major aspect of the phase II plan includes adding a pitched, metal roof to the existing hotel to match the Triplett Alumni Center and new tower.

Sponsorship Opportunities
Every suite in the new hotel tower has been sponsored and only two rooms remain in the original Inn. Rooms may be sponsored with a tax-deductible gift to the University of $55,000, which may be contributed over time, if needed. The campaign has garnered over $16 million in gifts and pledges, but $200,000 is still needed to complete phase I. Those not interested in a room sponsorship still have other naming opportunities by sponsoring patios, benches, chandeliers or alumni bricks.

Individuals or organizations can learn more about donor naming opportunities and tax-deductible contributions to The Inn at Ole Miss by contacting Tim Walsh at 662-915-7375, tim@olemiss.edu or by visiting the Alumni Web site.
