The Ole Miss Student Alumni Council (SAC) joined over 100 educational institutions worldwide to participate in the second annual Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day. Held Feb. 26-27, the initiative, organized by CASE Affiliated Student Advancement Programs, is designed to increase student understanding of philanthropy and grow engagement on campuses.
The SAC held a variety of campus-wide events throughout the two days to celebrate the many ways that alumni give back to the university. Rebel Donor Day was a success with over 600 thank you cards written to both sustaining life members and new life members of the Alumni Association.
“As an institution that benefits in so many ways from the support of so many dedicated alumni, it’s important to take time not only to thank these important people but to educate our community about their contributions,” said Tim Walsh (BPA 83, MEd 91), executive director of the alumni association.
SAC members passed out “I Love Ole Miss” stickers, and students were encouraged to sign a banner thanking alumni members and Rebel donors for the integral role they play in shaping every student’s experience at Ole Miss.
With plans to add additional events to celebrate next year, the SAC hopes Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day will continue to grow as more students become involved.
