The Alumni Association’s motto reads: “The Alumni Association: Your
Connection to Ole Miss.” In order to serve as that important
connection, the Association compiles private and public information
about alumni and friends of Ole Miss. This policy statement is to
outline how we use and how we limit the use of information we
collect.
The Alumni Association collects information from various
sources:
information you send us through correspondence, emails, surveys,
etc.;
information we receive from our affiliates; and information we
receive from the University.
Our database is for the use of the University, the Association,
and our affiliates. We do not sell or trade alumni information
with any organization not directly affiliated with us. We share
openly with the following affiliates: The University of
Mississippi Foundation, the Loyalty Foundation, our local alumni
clubs, the professional chapter programs for each school and
college, and official clubs such as Band Alumni, Jazz Alumni,
Black Alumni, the Rugby Club, and the M-Club Alumni Chapter.
The Alumni Association has also formed relationships with
companies in order to provide services to alumni and friends and
to generate revenue that helps us provide benefits and services
to the University and to the Alumni Association. Before entering
into a partnership with companies that we deem reputable and
reliable, the Association considers their practices regarding
use of customer information and enters into an agreement as to
how the information may be used in marketing their product or
service.
If you do not wish to be contacted by these companies, notify
the Alumni Association at the address above and we will remove
your name from the list. Since mailing lists are often provided
several weeks in advance, you may be contacted after notifying
us. Your name will be removed from circulation as soon as
possible.
