Inn Project Sets Sights on Start Date

The campaign to expand and renovate The Inn at Ole Miss reached a major goal recently when the University agreed to put the project on the June agenda for the Institutions of Higher Learning monthly meeting.

All University of Mississippi construction projects must receive approval from the IHL before work can begin. Since the campaign to expand and renovate the hotel has now received gifts and pledges totaling some $11.8 million, the Alumni Association was able to move forward to get on the agenda and a another step closer to beginning Phase I of the project. Campaign coordinator Tim Walsh says the campaign committee hopes to break ground the weekend of the first home football game against Memphis.

“Though we have made substantial progress, we still have a long way to go,” says Walsh. “ This is an $18 million - plus project so we still need many gifts and pledges of all sizes from our alumni and friends to complete the expansion.”

The expansion of The Inn will include an eight-story tower with 40 two-room suites and 10 larger special suites, a 6,800-square-foot ballroom, a café, a fitness center and multiple meeting rooms. Forty-nine of the 50 suites have now been sponsored.
