Lee County Club Doubles Scholarships

The Lee County Ole Miss Club was founded under one idea: To provide scholarship opportunities for Lee County students who want to attend Ole Miss. By last May, when the club was barely two years old, the members had raised an amount substantial enough to support scholarships for four Lee County students attending Ole Miss. Now, they’re reaching for even greater heights.

According to Kelly Kenney, an active club member, the Lee County Ole Miss Club will award four more scholarships for the upcoming school year, bringing their total to eight. Kenney says that the success of the club is due to the members’ shared love for Ole Miss and the belief in education.

“Not everyone is fortunate enough to go to Ole Miss. That’s why we’re doing this,” she says.

The next Lee County Ole Miss Club event has its members already counting down the days on their calendars. Held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Mark Craig on Tuesday, July 26, Coach Orgeron and his staff will be present to discuss the upcoming season. All who have an affection for Ole Miss are invited to attend. Tickets cost $50 and include drinks as well as food prepared by David Leathers of Food Stylin’. A silent auction will also be held, in which items from local merchants and autographed Ole Miss memorabilia will be won.
