Inn Campaign Nears Start Date

Since its announcement nine months ago The Inn at Ole Miss campaign has raised over $11.7 million in gifts and pledges. The campaign committee now expects construction to start in August.

The Inn expansion project received approval to open bidding by the Institutions of Higher Learning Board at their  June meeting. The campaign committee is currently finalizing plans with Foil Wyatt Architects and Planners of Jackson.

The project has since moved into the bid phase with the campaign committee planning to open bids on August 1.

“The committee hopes to award a contract shortly after opening bids, with construction to begin early that month,” said campaign coordinator Tim Walsh. “A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Saturday, September 2 at 3 p.m.”

The Inn at Ole Miss construction will include an eight-story tower with 40 two-room suites and 10 larger special suites, a 6,800-square-foot ballroom, a café, a fitness center and multiple meeting rooms.

Once construction begins the project will be completed in phases. Phase one will begin with the construction of the tower. An additional $1 million in gifts is needed in order to complete the ballroom as part of phase one. One two-room suite remains available for sponsorship and various other naming opportunities are available throughout the hotel.

The campaign committee is grateful for the generosity of its alumni and friends, but additional gifts are needed in order to complete this project.
