The Inn at Ole Miss Groundbreaking Set for Sept. 2

After nearly a year of planning, the Inn at Ole Miss Campaign has reached the first phase of construction. The Inn at Ole Miss Campaign Steering Committee hosts a groundbreaking ceremony for the tower and ballroom at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Inn.

"The members of our Campaign Steering Committee, the donors to the project and the alumni staff are all excited about this signal event in the life of the Alumni Association," said Tim Walsh, campaign coordinator and senior associate director of Alumni Affairs. "The groundbreaking ceremony is the next step in transforming our facility, and we invite all alumni and friends to join us for the ceremony and reception."

The tower section of the Inn at Ole Miss expansion and renovation is to be an eight-story structure that includes 40 two-room suites, 10 larger special suites, a new hotel entrance and porte-cochere, and a new lobby/great room. Other aspects of the hotel's expansion include a 6,800-square-foot ballroom, a café, a fitness center and multiple meeting rooms.

"I want to thank the alumni and friends who have generously supported the Inn at Ole Miss Campaign with their gifts and pledges," said David Brevard, chair of the Campaign Steering Committee. "Through the financial support of these donors, our dream for an improved and enlarged hotel is becoming a reality as the first phase of construction begins. Our fundraising efforts continue. I encourage and solicit other members of the Ole Miss family to join us in making gifts and pledges to the campaign, so that the next phases of construction can follow closely the completion of phase one."

A reception follows the ceremony in Butler Auditorium in the Triplett Alumni Center. Rain location for the ceremony is Butler Auditorium. Casual attire is appropriate.

Following the ceremony, there will be a at 4:30 pep rally in the Grove for Sunday’s game against Memphis sponsored by the Student Spirit Committee.
