The Inn at Ole Miss Campaign Gains Momentum The campaign to expand and renovate The Inn at Ole Miss has received gifts and pledges totaling over $11.3 million, and construction on Phase I is set to begin this summer. The expansion of The Inn will include an eight-story tower with 40 two-room suites and 10 larger special suites, a 6,800-square-foot ballroom, a café, a fitness center and multiple meeting rooms. Forty-nine of the 50 suites have now been sponsored. Renovation plans begin from the ground up — transforming the current hotel lobby into a fitness center for hotel guests, adding a business center and converting the current kitchen and snack bar into office space for Alumni Association staff. Adding local flair, the new lobby will be decorated with art contributed by alumni artists. The ballroom is designed so that it can be divided into four equal sections, allowing for space to handle as many as four separate meetings at once and providing an excellent place for reunion programs. “We feel we need a hotel that is reflective of our university, one that will help strengthen our relationship with everyone who uses The Inn at Ole Miss,” says David Brevard, campaign chair and 1999-2000 Alumni Association president. Other plans on the ground floor expansion include the addition of a 3,200-square-foot industrial-size kitchen, which will primarily be used for catering. A commercial laundry also will be installed in the hotel providing significant long-term savings.
To promote The Inn at Ole Miss campaign the Alumni Association held a raffle. The winner, Richard Self (BBA 78), of Brandon received a two-night stay at The Inn and two tickets to each game of the Ole Miss -Tennessee baseball series. “The Alumni Association has received overwhelming support from the Ole Miss alumni community,” says Campaign Coordinator Tim Walsh. “Significant gifts have been given, but necessary funds are still needed to ensure the facility reflects the stature of the University and its alumni and friends.” Individuals or organizations can learn more about donor naming opportunities and tax-deductible sponsorships for The Inn at Ole Miss by contacting Walsh at 662-915-7375 or e-mailing tim@olemiss.edu.
