Inn Tower Rising Quickly
Construction of The Inn at Ole Miss reaches new heights, as workers are more than halfway through the eight-story tower that will house 50 new suites, and construction of the hotel’s new ballroom and lobby has begun.
A new parking lot located on the east side of the current Inn at Ole Miss was completed in April and is now available to hotel guests and alumni staff.
Every suite in the new hotel tower has been sponsored and only 10 remain in the existing hotel. Current opportunities and guidelines for sponsors include:
• A room in The Inn at Ole Miss may be sponsored with a tax-deductible gift to the Alumni Center of $55,000, if paid over five years or $50,000 if paid within 12 months.
• A sponsor has first priority for his or her room for all regular season home football games. At all other times, including Grove Bowl weekend, the sponsor will have priority for said room depending on its availability.
• This agreement is valid during the lifetime of the sponsor.
• Sponsors will have a reserved parking space at the Inn for every home football game.
• Sponsors are expected to fund basic enhancements to their rooms every five to seven years.
A live webcam allows alumni to log on to the Ole Miss Alumni Web site and view the current progress of The Inn construction.
Completion of The Inn is still set for March 2008 with it opening for business later that spring.
“We are deeply appreciative of the volunteers and the hundreds of alumni and friends who have helped us get close to our contribution goal,” says campaign coordinator Tim Walsh. “This facility is for all Ole Miss alumni, and we hope many more will help us make this dream a reality."
The campaign has garnered over $13.8 million in gifts and pledges. Those not interested in room sponsorship still have other naming opportunities in the sponsorship of chandeliers, benches or alumni bricks.
